Typically, the ride takes about 8 hours and 15 minutes. There is plenty of time to kick back and enjoy the scenery on the 502 km bus ride from Johannesburg to Durban. Our coaches were built with your comfort in mind, whether you are taking a trip for business or pleasure.
As long as it is more than 24 hours before your departure time, you can cancel your trip without penalty. You can either get a refund or reschedule your trip, but there will be a R50.00 administrative fee.
If you’re cutting it close and it’s less than 24 hours until departure, you can still reschedule, but refunds are off the table. The administration fee this time around will be R70.00. We cannot issue a refund or reschedule your ticket if it is within one hour of your bus’s departure time.
As part of our policy, we permit each passenger to bring up to two pieces of regular baggage. To keep everything fair and make sure there’s enough room for everyone, we kindly ask that the total weight of your items doesn’t cross the 25 kg mark.
If your luggage weighs over 25kg, don’t stress! We can handle it. Just remember, there’s a slight charge for bags that go beyond our weight limit. You’re free to pay this fee when you’re booking your tickets or even while you’re getting on board.

We’ve also got some entertainment on board. We try our best to broadcast family-friendly video and audio material on all our coaches. But hey, we’re all about the journey, not just the destination, so while we can’t promise the availability of onboard entertainment on every coach, we’re sure you’ll enjoy the ride.
We can only welcome aboard trained guide dogs that are certified to assist their owners. We have specific guidelines for this, and it’s always at Greyhound’s discretion. Unfortunately, we can’t allow any other pets or animals on our coaches or shuttle buses. We hope you understand – it’s all about ensuring a comfortable and safe journey for all our passengers.
We love seeing families travel together! We’re all about safety, so we can’t allow children under 12 to travel alone. If your kiddo is under 36 months old, they can ride for free as long as they’re comfy on your lap.
Once they are older than 36-months, they’ll need their own seat and will be charged the adult fare. So pack those snacks, bring their favourite toy, and get ready for a family adventure with Greyhound.

We can’t give a 100% guarantee on specific arrival or departure times, and we can’t take on liability for any trouble these hiccups might cause..
